Hounslow Labour Welcome to Hounslow Borough Labour Party!
Feltham is a town surrounded by green spaces, it is just half an hour to central London by train, and it is located next to Europe’s busiest airport. Its potential as a centre for logistics, media, innovation and skills, is limitless.
And yet, Feltham has historically had one of the highest rates of deprivation within the Borough.
That’s why Hounslow’s Labour administration has set out one of the boldest growth and regeneration projects in the UK, to help Feltham realise its potential.
The Future Feltham Investment Framework will deliver up to 3,000 homes, over 9,000 high quality jobs and enhanced connectivity, with the old Ministry of Defence site at its heart.
The plans include three main objectives:
-
A brand-new neighbourhood on the MOD site
At the centre of these plans to create a new green neighbourhood, on the site of the old MOD site. This will help deliver the homes the area needs, along with all the facilities and public spaces needed to support them.
The new plans are a result of a pioneering new partnership between the Council, the GLA and the Ministry of Defence.
-
Putting young people, skills and opportunity at the heart of growth
These plans are about giving young people the best possible start in life.
The Council will bring together partner organisations to create an education and skills hub, strengthen routes from learning into work and help residents access local jobs – whether at the airport, or in key growth sectors like food innovation, logistics and film and TV.
- A greener, more connected, cultural destination
The third objective is to increase Feltham’s access to green space, transport, and cultural assets.
These plans include opening up the Longford River into a pleasant green corridor of biodiversity. It means enhancing Feltham’s parks and open spaces. It also means investing more in local community culture, to help put Feltham on the map.
The new investment framework builds on significant progress already being made in Feltham. This includes:
- Over 1,500 homes delivered or in the pipeline.
- Progress towards saving Hanworth Park House, along with new homes, heritage restoration and better access to Hanworth Park.
- New community assets like the Feltham Green Eco Cabin and Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden.
- The new Feltham Community Hub and Library, and the Council’s Lifelong Learning division working with the University of West London to offer tailored courses for Feltham’s residents.
- Enhanced parks and open spaces across Feltham.
Commenting on the new investment framework, Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Assets, Regeneration and Development, said:
“The new investment framework will attract new investors, build new partnerships, and increase the number of homes, jobs and opportunities for local people here in Feltham.
“Just as important, however, is creating a place for people to feel proud of – a place that feels like home.
“That’s why we’re building new green neighbourhoods, opening up access to Feltham’s parks and rivers, and investing in transport and infrastructure. It’s why we’re focusing on skills and opportunities for our young people and investing in the culture and leisure facilities that will make Feltham a fun and thriving place to live.
“Feltham is at the gateway to London. It is also right next to London’s gateway to the world. Therein lies its potential. Our plans will help make Feltham a destination in its own right.”
