Daanish was first elected to the Council in 2014 when she served as Deputy Mayor. She is a parent governor for Cranford Community College. She is active in the community having previously been a volunteer in a local Sure Start Centre and Ashford hospital. She currently volunteers with Ihear, a local charity which works in partnership with the NHS to provide services for people who have problems with alcohol and drug usage in the Borough.

As a Councillor thus far, Daanish has successfully campaigned for the introduction of traffic calming measures in key areas, overseen the planting of many trees, and been responsible for the renovation of Cranford Lock, which finally reopened last year.
