Salman is Councillor for Isleworth and Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Public Spaces. He helped lead the successful campaign to save Park Road Allotments from the Duke of Northumberland’s bulldozers, exposed Thames Water for sewage dumping, and launched the UK’s first-ever policy to transform wasteland into orchards, community gardens and allotments and pair them with schools to teach children in deprived areas about healthy living, with backing from Downton Abbey’s Jim Carter.
Salman has written for the Guardian and New Statesman, is a TV commentator, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His debut novel, Freebourne, will be released in 2025.
