Tom Bruce
Councillor for Hounslow South
Tom has lived in Hounslow all his life, attending The Andrew Ewing Primary school (now called Westbrook Primary school) and Heston Community school, both in Heston. He now works as a senior teacher in a neighbouring borough, and before becoming a Councillor, worked at Cranford Primary school in the West of Hounslow.
Tom is passionate about education and young people, and serves on the council’s cabinet as the Lead Member for Education and Children’s services. He aims to work with the community supporting people achieving their dreams and aspirations. He has always wanted, and continues to want, to make Hounslow a better place for people to live. A place where they feel happy, safe and positive about their own and their family’s future.
In his time as a Councillor so far, Tom has already had several major achievements. These include expanding school places across the borough including Chatsworth Primary school in Hounslow South, working with the police to identify problem areas and reduce anti-social behaviour and drug dealing and introducing the Hounslow Learning Partnership bollards around Gainsborough Green and on Woodland Gardens to protect the open space from vehicle damage.
Tom also worked closely with the RFU to ensure the rugby World Cup and subsequent Twickenham Stadium events had a limited impact on Hounslow South residents, working with Hounslow Highways to ensure as many roads and pavements as possible have been resurfaced where necessary, and has supported residents on a number of streets to help alleviate parking issues in the area.
