Theo Dennison for Syon
Theo is standing for re-election in Syon, where he has been a Councillor since 2010. He is also currently the cabinet member for finance and citizen engagement which means he is responsible for making sure the council’s finances are in proper order, and that they are delivering on the Labour Group’s promise to keep council tax as low as possible.
Originally Lancashire, Theo moved to London after finishing university, and has lived in Brentford for more than 20 years with his wife and daughters. His first job was running a centre for unemployed people in Hounslow in the 1980s, before becoming the Council's first corporate grants officer - a role which involved looking after grant aid to the voluntary sector.
Since then he has worked in local government and at Transport for London, where he was a consultant manager. In this role he worked on the implementation of the Mayor of London’s transport policy, the Greenwich waterfront transit project, and the congestion zone. More recently, he has set up his own communications consultancy which specialises in local authority and voluntary sector clients.
Theo has also worked on large scale voluntary housing transfers in several Councils, and the overhaul of recycling facilities at Uttlesford and Rochford - the most successful recycling council in the country.
